Mauro Boldi (Telecom Italia - Italy) on energy efficiency & ICTFOOTPRINT.eu
Mauro Boldi, a system engineer at Telecom Italia and one of the international experts on energy efficiency in ICTFOOTPRINT.eu, which is bringing new energy efficiency metrics and methodologies in the drive towards greener and more sustainable ICT. As an invited participant of the “End-user requirements gathering & validation” meeting at the European Commission in May 2016, Mauro brought his views on energy efficiency in the telecoms industry.
As a member of the ETSI group on network energy efficiency, Mauro shared insights on the important role that standards play in supporting the EU’s energy targets.
Energy efficiency has particular relevance for telecom operators in the drive towards high power networks with lower energy consumption. He welcomes the role of ICTFOOTPRINT.eu in bringing on board a new and much broader set of stakeholders keen to improve the energy efficiency of ICT products and services while at the same time reducing operational costs.
“ICTFOOTPRINT.eu is very welcome, since it focuses both on SMEs and Large Corporations, involving other actors, not closely related on energy efficiency.”
ICTFOOTPRINT.eu aims to support all European ICT players to increase their competitiveness through energy efficiency and low levels of carbon footprint.
