ICTFOOTPRINT.eu at EU Green Week
The EU Green Week will take place between the 21st and the 25th May in several European cities.
EU Green Week 2018 will explore ways in which the EU is helping cities to become better places to live and work. Showcasing policy developments on air quality, noise, nature and biodiversity, waste and water management, it will promote participatory approaches to urban development, networking schemes, and tools for sharing best practices, engaging local authorities and citizens, and encouraging them to share their vision of a sustainable future.
EU Green Week brings together a wide variety of visitors, from citizens, to city planners, and industry players involved in the green business, amongst others. Making European cities greener is possible if everyone gets involved. Any city can be a green city, regardless of its location or size, because going green isn't just about green spaces and parks. It's about improving everyday issues that touch people's lives.
Did you know that cities account for two-thirds of the world’s overall energy consumption and contribute an estimated 70 percent of the world’s greenhouse gases? If just 100 of the world’s largest cities embarked on a low-carbon development path, global greenhouse gas emissions could be decreased by an estimated 10 percent a year.
ICTFOOTPRINT.eu will be at EU Green Week on 23rd May (BluePoint, Brussels), at EUROCITIES exhibition booth where attendees can gain more detailed information on green ICT services. ICTFOOTPRINT.eu supports cities to help their local communities to increase their competitiveness through energy efficiency and low levels of carbon footprint in ICT.
With 75 percent of the total European population living in urban areas, sustainable ICT can play a significant role to improve the carbon footprint of cities by moving to a more intelligent use of energy. Cities need to become smarter, to be future leaders in energy efficiency in the ICT sector and get cost savings, which can reach over 500,000 euros a year.
EU Green Week visitors that drop by the booth will have the opportunity to try out the ICTFOOTPRINT.eu tools, such as the Self-Assessment Tool for Organisations, SAT-O: a useful, free, quick and easy-to-use tool to estimate the carbon and energy footprint of your organisation, including for instance the footprint derived from your equipment’s whole life (from production to keeping it up and running to its dismission) and caused by business travel and commuting.
Visitors can also get more info about ICTFOOTPRINT.eu Green Marketplace, the online meeting point to find ICT sustainable suppliers & showcase green services provided for sustainability in ICT.
